Reflections of Our Last 100 Years
A lot has changed in the last 100 years, and nowhere is that more true than SW Washington. One hundred years ago, the landscape was dotted with small farms. The primary mode of transporation was horseback. Each town may have had a central telephone switchboard, but certainly no private lines.
Banking has changed a lot, too. Technology paved the way for banking online, by phone and at automatic teller machines, just to name a few.
Did you know...
- First Independent's Hazel Dell branch was the first in the region to offer drive-up banking? It's first customer rode in on horseback.
- First Independent brought the first ATM to Clark County in 1978.
Take a journey through the past 100 years in SW Washington...

1920s - We're full of prunes.
1930s - Buddy, can you spare a dime?

1950s - Happy days
1960s - Peace, love, and upheaval
1970s - The radical goes mainstream
1980s - Vancouver, Vancouver, this is it!
